A trap catches what's already inside; a sealed gap is what stops the next one from moving in — our Shiloh, IL crew does both in one visit. Beyond droppings and noise, chewed insulation and wiring are real risks we flag on every inspection. A single missed gap can undo weeks of otherwise successful trapping and sealing work.
Sealing a quarter-inch gap takes different training than setting a trap, and that's specifically what our technicians do.
Fresh droppings or attic noise get bumped up the schedule — an active population doesn't wait for a convenient Tuesday.
Inspection sets one number covering both trap placement and exclusion work — no separate invoice for each.
We carry hardware cloth and rodent-proof sealant built for exclusion, not consumer-grade traps alone. We also photograph every sealed entry point before and after, so you have documentation of the exclusion work done.
Ground-level rats mean foundation gaps and vent screens get priority in the sealing plan.
Roof rats travel power lines and branches into attics — we seal soffits and roofline gaps specifically.
Mice need only a quarter-inch opening, so we check utility penetrations and door sweeps closely.
Cleanup follows industry biohazard handling standards, not a quick vacuum and call it done.
Hardware cloth, sweeps, and vent screens go in to physically block re-entry — not a temporary patch.
Scheduled station checks with logged records for property managers who need documentation on file. We also check attic access panels and garage door seals, since those are common secondary entry points during follow-ups.
Tell us where you're hearing it — attic, wall, kitchen — and whether you've seen droppings or gnaw marks.
The technician shows up with both trapping and sealing supplies loaded, ready to handle it in one visit.
Inspection identifies both species and access points — foundation to roofline — before we quote anything.
You get trapping, exclusion, and a documented recheck — not just traps left behind.
Months of store-bought traps got us nowhere. Technician found the actual gap under our deck ledger in twenty minutes.
Roof rats in the attic for weeks. Three roofline gaps sealed and the noise stopped within days.
We manage six buildings — they service all of them on a schedule and send logs I can hand to ownership.
Appreciated them explaining rat versus mouse signs before quoting anything. Didn't feel like a guessing game.
Two units in our building had chewed wiring behind the stove. Exclusion work solved it and our electrician confirmed no further risk.
Coverage includes Shiloh and the surrounding region, weighted toward the property types that see the most rodent pressure. We track seasonal rodent migration patterns around Shiloh to anticipate calls before they spike. We also keep records of prior exclusion work at a property, which speeds up diagnosis if a new gap opens up in a different spot later.
Rat droppings run larger, roughly rice-grain size or bigger; mouse droppings are smaller and more pointed, and noise timing differs too. A full inspection covers roofline and chimney access alongside the foundation, since rodents use whichever gap is easiest.
Exclusion is the permanent piece; trapping without it just resets the clock. A thorough seal job on the first visit is what actually prevents a second call a few months later, which is why we'd rather spend extra time sealing than rush to the next job.
We'd wait — disturbed droppings can aerosolize particles, and our crew handles that with proper PPE.
A typical job is a single day plus a short recheck window.
Mechanical trapping and sealing come first, especially around pets and kids; bait stations are reserved for specific situations like commercial perimeters.
Pet food left out and gaps around utility lines are frequent culprits we flag on inspection. We recommend a seasonal walk-around of the foundation, since freeze-thaw cycles can open new gaps.
Trapping and sealing in the same visit beats a cycle of traps that never quite finish the job.
