If you're still hearing scratching after buying every trap at the hardware store, the entry point is still open — that's what we fix first. Beyond droppings and noise, chewed insulation and wiring are real risks we flag on every inspection. A single missed gap can undo weeks of otherwise successful trapping and sealing work.
Sealing a quarter-inch gap takes different training than setting a trap, and that's specifically what our technicians do.
We move quickly on new reports in Corning, since delay usually just means a bigger job later.
Inspection sets one number covering both trap placement and exclusion work — no separate invoice for each.
We carry hardware cloth and rodent-proof sealant built for exclusion, not consumer-grade traps alone. Each job comes with before-and-after photos of the sealed gaps.
Norway rats burrow at grade, so we work the foundation perimeter and deck footings, not just the attic.
Attic access almost always traces back to a roofline or eave gap, which is where sealing starts.
Mice need only a quarter-inch opening, so we check utility penetrations and door sweeps closely.
Cleanup follows industry biohazard handling standards, not a quick vacuum and call it done.
Exclusion means a barrier the animal can't simply chew back through.
Recurring service for multi-unit properties comes with a written check-in schedule, not an occasional drive-by. We also check attic access panels and garage door seals, since those are common secondary entry points during follow-ups.
A quick description of the noise and location shapes which trap and sealing materials we bring.
We come prepared to trap and seal together, not schedule a separate trip for materials.
We trace droppings and gnaw marks back to the entry point and map every gap that needs sealing.
Traps go out, gaps get sealed, and we schedule a follow-up check to confirm the population's cleared.
Months of store-bought traps got us nowhere. Technician found the actual gap under our deck ledger in twenty minutes.
Roof rats in the attic for weeks. Three roofline gaps sealed and the noise stopped within days.
We manage six buildings — they service all of them on a schedule and send logs I can hand to ownership.
Appreciated them explaining rat versus mouse signs before quoting anything. Didn't feel like a guessing game.
Two units in our building had chewed wiring behind the stove. Exclusion work solved it and our electrician confirmed no further risk.
Coverage includes Corning and the surrounding region, weighted toward the property types that see the most rodent pressure. We track seasonal rodent migration patterns around Corning to anticipate calls before they spike. We also keep records of prior exclusion work at a property, which speeds up diagnosis if a new gap opens up in a different spot later.
Rat droppings run larger, roughly rice-grain size or bigger; mouse droppings are smaller and more pointed, and noise timing differs too. A full inspection covers roofline and chimney access alongside the foundation, since rodents use whichever gap is easiest.
Yes — trapping clears what's inside now, but sealing is what keeps the next one from moving in. We'd rather take the extra time to seal every gap properly than leave one open and get a callback in a few months.
Dry sweeping can release airborne particles, so it's safer to leave cleanup to the visit.
Most homes wrap in one visit for trapping and sealing, with a follow-up a week or two out to confirm.
We lean on traps and exclusion before rodenticide in most residential jobs.
Easy food access, standing water, clutter, and unsealed foundation gaps are the usual suspects. We recommend a seasonal walk-around of the foundation, since freeze-thaw cycles can open new gaps.
